Product description

This black digital watch is part of the sporty G-Squad line of Casio’s iconic G-Shock series, and it comes with a Bluetooth connection. It is an excellent training buddy for both goal-oriented athletes and everyday sporting enthusiasts, and it comes with very versatile training functions, Thanks to the G-Shock Connected app, you can also monitor the results very easily. Unlike common smart watches, G-Shock watches can take a beating, and the battery lasts for years, so it is very good for those who like to stay in the harsh conditions in the badlands for extended periods of time.

The GBD-800 may look robust in pics, but the round shape and weight from the lower end of the series make it very wearable. The design comes from the legendary DW6600 used by the Navy Seals. The 5 mm hole spacing (closer than normal) on the watch enables a better fit on the wrist.

In addition to the precision strap, the watch has a lap/split button on the front and a comprehensive interval timer. If these appeal to you, comparison between models just got easier.

Decoding the name

The cryptic letter/number combination in Casio watch names (GBD-800-1BER) tells you about the watch type and its features. G = G-Shock, B = Bluetooth ja D = Digital.

The number in the middle (800) tells you the watch series. The number in the 1BER suffix is the color code where 1 = black. The letter after that refers to the "order number", B = Second Wave. ER tells that this is the version made for the European market. The various regions are most often just packaged a bit differently, and the manual language varies.

Features

Mineral Glass

Actual mineral glass with heat treatment to prevent scratches.

World Time

You can choose from over 300 cities to set a secondary time, and you can display the time for two locations at the same time. Automatic daylight saving can be toggled. (On a side note, we should all stop that nonsense.)

Interval Countdown Timer

This isn't your usual egg timer: you can set up to five different times and repeat them in various orders for 1–20 times. E.g. you can program 10 minutes of jogging, 4 minutes of sprinting, 10 minutes of jogging again, and then 4 minutes of running. The timers can be set with 1-second increments up to 60 minutes.

Stopwatch

Stopwatch with 1/100th precision to 60 minutes and 1-second precision to 24 hours. The watch keeps a record of 200 times and displays split and lap times with a forward-facing button. You can also set 10 target times.

Alarm Clock / Hourly Signals

You can set five daily alarms and hourly time signals on/off.

Calendar until 2099

You don't have to check the date setting of this watch each month: leap years, Februaries, and Biblical events are covered for a very long time – automagically.

Backlight

White Auto LED backlight with Afterglow that can be set to 1.5 or 3 seconds.

Step Counter

Use the G-Shock Connected application to track your step count. The app also makes it possible to maintain step count logs with five exercise intensity levels, calculate the calories you burn, specify a daily step target, create timer combinations, and send them to the watch.

Bluetooth Connection

You can pair the watch with your smartphone through Bluetooth, which e.g. ensures the watch keeps the exact time automatically.
