Awesome trekking pole, nothing fancy but light ,strong and packable.....I'm buying another!

Took these for an 8km hike, functionally these are working fine, the locking mechanisms sometimes rattle when walking on asphalt but that's about it. The biggest issue for me are the handles, the rubber stinks of Chinese gunk. The stink permeates absolutely everything which comes in contact with the handle. After about 2km my palms started to itch from the handles and after coming home I couldn't even wash the stench off my hands. Today I tried wrapping these with fabric to at least stop the itching, but while doing that I noticed that the fabric took the stink from the handles. The material stinks even after I took it off the poles, the gunk just lingers on the fabric and spreads the stench around the house. Hopefully sunrays will fix it, wouldn't buy again!
