Product description

The Galvion Caiman is a streamlined and impressively lightweight next-generation ballistic helmet. It was specifically designed for special operations forces, but it fits well on anyone – these helmets are used by a number of serious militaries and units around the world.

Note: due to export regulations, this helmet can only be shipped to Finland.

  • Ultra-light and highly adjustable for every head
  • Excellent compatibility with accessories
  • NIJ IIIA ballistic protection

There are helmets, and then there's the Galvion Caiman. I’ve had experience with older Finnish Defence Force helmets, PGD, Ops-Core, and Team Wendy. The Caiman outshines competitors in terms of lightness, fit, adjustability, and the quality of helmet accessories. Every detail is crafted to perfection. While it comes with a high price, it’s worth every penny. If your goal is comfort and usability that enhances operational capability, this is the best helmet for you.

Features

The helmet system, without external accessories, weighs only 1.13kg in size Large. Its comfort liner pads don’t attach directly to the ballistic shell but to an impact liner that protects the head from impacts to the helmet shell. The fit of the helmet is adjusted with retention straps and a tightening dial mechanism fit band. The fit band can also be removed if a more traditional fit around the head is preferred. The pads come pre-installed in the helmet and can be removed in sections, for instance, if one wants to wear traditional hearing protection under the helmet. Additionally, a Shim Sheet is included, allowing users to remove and add padding in the helmet's interior to fine-tune the fit.

Perfect Fit

In addition to its light weight, Galvion's superior adjustability stands out. This helmet truly can be adjusted to fit any head shape, whatever phrenological masterpiece you might be carrying on your shoulders. The helmet is available in multiple sizes, each of which can be fine-tuned with an infinitely adjustable fit band and movable, additional, or removable pads. The fit band system can also be moved forward, backward, and vertically inside the helmet.

Accessory Compatibility

On the helmet’s front side, you’ll find none other than the Wilcox L4 shroud for NVG mounting. The Galvion Caiman is designed to work optimally with accessories like night vision devices, counterweights, hearing protection, radio cables, lights, and more. Required gear can be attached to the accessory rails, and the elastic cords in the rails allow cables to be neatly secured as desired. With the included accessory rail pieces, you can set up your lighting and other configurations to meet your specific needs.

A Kitted Out Example

This Galvion Caiman helmet has been customized with user-preferred accessories: the tan helmet has been painted green and black with NFM paint. On top, it features Varusteleka's M05 helmet cover. Hearing protection is a custom setup, a frankenstein build using an OpsCore mount kit and an AXL RAC link for the MSA Sordins. There’s also a custom counterweight pouch. An OpsMen strobe is taped over, as this light is quite powerful but still provides adequate signaling in both visible and IR light modes. For small reading tasks or similar activities, there’s a Princeton Tec MPLS light that can be used in either visible or IR mode. (These accessories are not included.)

In the Package

Helmet with pre-assembled ballistic shell, Wilcox® L4 Series Shroud, accessory rails, and APEX Liner System interior, along with an additional accessory rail set for mounting, e.g., lights, and a Shim Sheet cushion pad for custom padding. Also includes a soft carrying pouch.
