Product description

In the old days, there were no transparent backpacks to prevent kids from bringing guns to school, nor backpacks with ballistic panels in case someone pulled out a gun anyways. The Italians made this kid-sized backpack supposedly for backpack-bomb use, how neat is that? Only a handful available!

Despite its canvas'y appearance we're talking about a sturdy steel box here. If you see an Italian waving this thing like crazy, you better run whether or not there's TNT inside or not.

Features

The intricate dividers are probably not just an artistic interpretation by the Italians, but each partition is carefully placed to hold explosives, detonators, cigarettes and other necessary items for a Mediterranean combat engineer.

The bag was made for one thing and doesn't seem ideal for anything else. You probably can carry photography gear or other recreational paraphernalia in it, we won't ask questions.

Outside measurements: 21 x 23 x 9.5 cm (8.5" x 9" x 3.5")

Inside compartments (all 6 cm deep):

  • 20 x 4 cm (8" x 1.5")
  • 20 x 10 cm (8" x 4")
  • Two 6 x 8 cm (2.5" x 3") compartments

Lid compartment: 20 x 20 x 2.5 cm (8" x 8" x 1")

Materials

Made of cotton duck, steel, and leather. They have really made these from proper strong materials and the sewing thread seems pretty solid too. If the Italians made other things with such attention and care, their military achievements would have been better for sure.

Italian military surplus

Usually very little used, but old. This kind of case was used during WWII but there are no stamps to verify the age of any specific item.

We strongly recommend brushing the bag clean and treating the leather with generous amounts of grease. The steel parts will have rust on them. The musty Italian smell should eventually vanish with use, which is actually sad.
