Katadyn Combi is a very versatile water filter, suitable for extremely dirty water and small groups of people. Its two-stage filter removes micro-organisms, reduces chemicals, and improves the taste of the drinking water. The package includes the prefilter, bottle adapter, and carry bag. It also features the water tap kit and is thus the only portable outdoor water filter that converts for RV and temporary home use.

Features

The Katadyn Combi has two filters, activated carbon and ceramic. It filters both clear and muddy water. The ceramic depth filter removes bacteria (e.g. 99.9999% Klebsiella terrigena), protozoan cysts (e.g. 99.9% Giardia and Cryptosporidium), and other disease-causing agents. Unlike disposable filters, the ceramic can be cleaned. The capacity is up to 50,000 liters, depending on the water quality. The included measuring gauge indicates when to change the filter element.

The activated carbon reduces chemicals and improves the taste of water. The carbon should be exchanged after 400 liters. To make it last longer, you can also switch to the one-stage operation (only ceramic without activated carbon). Note that Katadyn Combi doesn’t filter viruses. If you suspect that those wankers lurk in the water, use Use Katadyn Micropur tablets in combination with the filter.

Compatibility

The included bottle adapter is designed to work with all standard wide-mouth bottles such as those made by Camelback, Sigg, and Nalgene. Without the adapter, you can screw normal PET bottles onto the filter.

The Combi is nowadays equipped with the water tap kit, replacing the Combi Plus model. It enables you to connect the filter to a tap in your kitchen, caravan, camper, or boat, making it the only water filter for both indoor and outdoor use.
