Mine works fantastic. The tensile strength of the cord is superb, i dont know what exact weight it will retract left dangling but will get to that in a second. The length of the cord is such that if my friend who is 203cm (6 foot 9 almost 6 foot 10) pulls it out as far as he can,there is still an unknown length of cord left, so you wont be struggling to get your keys where they need to go even with a huge travel distance. As for what weight they will retract and hold, i have 3 front door keys,3 front door heavy lock keys, 3 different storage unit keys, 4 RFID key-chips for entry into certain spaces,4 utility area keys and a safety box/container key plus a can and bottle opener. It will retract and hold that weight if hanging and dangling without any problems/ dropped after use to be hands free it will also retract though it might leave 1/4 to 1/3 an inch cord/wire exposed as the power of retention doesnt work as powerfully on any device based around this mechanism when the weight is 99,5% retracted versus 4 feet away from your body. .You csn still tell and feel if you pull on it that the retention strength is not the issue,nor would i say this is an issue. Its the nature of any retention mechanism such as the one used in this, but it is a reliable one iin small format. No complaints. Ps. I have the belt clip one and that clip will sit where you clipped it on with the fury of a woman scorned. In my book, that is very good cause i never have to adjust or re-attach. Some products like these suck but mine remains a superb investment and i am extremely happy with it.

I have had many key reels over the years, they are very hand to have, but the ones available locally are all cheap quality, even if they are more expensive. Not this one. It's built like a tank out of good, durable materials, with an intelligent stopping and locking system that keeps your keys secure when you're not needing them. My only complaint would be that its bulkiness makes having it on a belt a bit clunky if you're sitting and it's on the front of your belt, but it's not that uncomfortable and after a while I barely noticed it. It having a full belt-loop version is a huge plus too, since it makes it basically impossible to lose unless you lose your belt (which you're going to notice if you lose, I should think) All in all this key reel is extremely useful and I'll probably grab a couple more at some point since I have a few sets of keys.

I bought a cheap one for 9 euros which broke after 2 days. If you need one of these, this one is the one to buy. Tough and smart design, really can take a beating. Bigger than expected. Not a problem, just for info.
