Finally properly long brown leather straps. Ideal for wrapping big ass bundles. Or simply use as a thin leather belt. Genüine East German leather. Wunderbar!
These days, general-purpose leather straps are ever harder to find, which is a pity because they have the most devoted fans. No surprise because these are very versatile and wonderful things. Especially when they are this long. You can use them to attach blankets, bedrolls, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, and such to your backpack quite nicely. These are long enough to function as a belt, too.
If you like to make stuff that requires shorter leather straps, you can also easily cut these up to make those.
Technically, these are supposed to be equally long, c. 145 cm x 2.5 cm (57” x 1”). However, maybe because these are Eastern surplus, there can be some variation. So, you might get a couple of cm longer or shorter strap. It isn't a very big deal at this length though. Also, the thickness of the leather can vary very slightly, the width is pretty much a standard.
Used East German military surplus from the ruins of the Nationale Volksarmee. Some used a bit more, some a bit less. So, these might have some scratches on the surface, the color may be a bit faded, and there can be some other signs of use as well. These are all in perfectly serviceable condition though and they have that wonderful rustic charm of worn leather.
