Product details
Product description

The crossbreed of a sneaker and a mountain boot is just that - works well in rough terrain, but fits like a sneaker. This means it's possible to give a good sprint if necessary. Lined with Gore-Tex and has a bit of shaft too. "Military" color scheme, i.e. black. A popular choice among many special forces etc. these days.

Features

Because we live in the 2000s, the features & materials have all sorts of flashy names ending with ® and ™. However, here's a down-to-earth rundown of the boot. First the new features of the Forces 2:

  • Lamella features on tread lugs for even better grip
  • Models with EN suffix have nail-protected soles (EN ISO 20344:2011)
  • Instep reinforcement for rope descents
  • More sizes available

The good ol' features are still there:

  • Non-marking, stiff sole with a very intricate cushion midsole and rough tread pattern.
  • Upper made of nubuck leather and Cordura.
  • Inner lined with breathable fabric.
  • Between the layers sits the Gore-Tex membrane.
  • Cushioned, porous insole.
  • Traditional lacing with lace locks in the middle. The upper eyelets are made of metal.
  • Weight for one shoe about 600-700 grams, depending on the size.

When they say "Fits like a sneaker" they weren't kidding. Very light, excellent lift, and great feel. Very excited to beat mine to shit and get another pair later

Two years on them and going as favorite boots. 10/10. Overall, very tight, compact and stiff. (good thing). Some other boots are fluffy and soft inside, like sticking your foot into cat’s ass. These boots are opposite, while it is layered, it feels thick like leather only boot. They are stiff. Normal weight, say 80 kg, you walk like on wooden soles. Sideways bend is nonexistent if you lace them properly, so you will not twist your ankle on mad rocks. However, this changes when you gear up. Add full battle rattle and pack, say 25 kg, boots adopt and become exactly what they need to be. Excess stiffness becomes excellent leg support and makes rucking tolerable. Sideways stiffness keeps your ankles straight. When doing sweaty stuff or wet stuff, boot does not dry as fast as leather only boot, but they are next best I’ve seen layered boots. If there is no ice, you can go full Spiderman on them. Excellent grip. But on ice they just slip. IDK, winter shooting IPSC, you must wear spikes on them or something. On snow again excellent. Indoor, gate duty, office day, just loose laces. Lacing is key on them, learn to lace and tighten them properly. 10/10 on them.

Just received this, product feel and look is really good, what is expected from Salomon. Only problem is size, I have wide feet which is usually okay, my feet adjust and the boot usually breaks in. The issue is the length, according to the recommendations by Salomon I should have bought a 7.5 UK size, my feet are exactly 262 mm long with socks on. Regardless I bought an 8.5 UK because my previous boots were an 8 UK and they were small. So one would think that these are very big... wrong! My toes are touching the tip of the boot and is leaving no space for my feet to move. I think maybe a size 9 should be sufficient.
