Product description

If these stuff sacks were boxers, they would be in the Lightweight or at most the Welterweight category: tough as nails without the build of a tank. The two largest sizes are the same as on the 500D versions – just that they weigh less than half as much. Available in numerous sizes from 5 to 60 liters.

It's easy to find all kinds of superlight bags that are indeed feathery but don't inspire confidence in the long run. These Savotta Stuff Sacks are in a league of their own and endure harsh punishment, probably to TEOTWAWKI. If you fear the end is nigh, understand that we try to imply a very long time here. Just the warranty for these things is 5 years.

With the fabric being lighter and more pliable, these are suitable for smaller packing and organizing purposes but the largest size is big enough to cover a small rucksack. The shape is oblong to use the volume more efficiently than totally round sacks.

The fabric has a waterproof PU coating but the seams are not taped. You can set the sacks on wet ground in the rain without soaking water like a napkin but after years of hard use, the fabric and coating will wear, and the water-resistance degrades. Use small and lightweight waterproof bags for gear and equipment that are sensitive to water.

I use it to store my waterproof trousers in, the 5 l version is the perfect fit for this. The 20 l works perfectly as a liner bag for the Savotta Jääkäri S. The material is robust, the stiching is very good, the overall quality outstanding.

Yes, I’m writing a review of a stuff sack. I use two 5-liter bags as a fork-mounted bikepacking bags. The right-mounted bag holds two down jackets, a beanie, and some gloves. The left-mounted bag holds two t-shits, some nylon running shorts, two pairs of socks, and underwear. They can hold more than that if I cram. The bag material is fairly water resistant but not waterproof, I find that if the weather is totally shitty I can line the bags with thin plastic bags and I’m good to go. I’ve put these bags to the test in this way on some very rainy rides and the contents remained bone dry. Soggy mud-besmirched bags, dry functional contents. They’re light and strong and well constructed, and the closures work well to compress the contents and keep the weather out. Buckles and roll tabs are made of robust high quality materials. No logos, branding, or bullshit.

The fabric is really thin, but looked well stitched. The top flap and buckles are stiff and are of good quality. Hope these will last long to justify the somewhat high price.
