Here’s an affordable olive drab EDC folder with a liner lock and the patented Emerson Wave® opening system normally only available on more expensive knives. This instant-open feature is a favorite among military, rescue, and law enforcement knife users.
Kershaw Emerson CQC-5K has a modified clip-point blade in 8Cr14MoV blade steel. The black-oxide coating protects the blade, making it also non-reflective. The blade is secured in place with a liner lock. The textured olive drab G10 handle provides a secure grip and features a hole for a lanyard. The pocket clip is reversible for left- or right-handed carry.
This folder can be opened with either the thumb disk or with the Emerson Wave Shaped Feature®. The small wave-shaped tab on the top of the blade is built to catch on the pocket seam, opening the knife as it comes out of the pocket. By the time the knife has been fully withdrawn from the pocket, the blade is deployed and ready for use. It does take some practice though.
This knife is a prime example of combining Emerson's uncompromising functional design with the more affordable production by Kershaw. The knife is designed in the USA but manufactured in China.
