A high-quality and very beautiful new puukko knife from Woodsknife. Made to be used. Perfect for hunting, hiking, and everyday use at home. The spine is deliberately arched upwards at the tip. An old Lapland design, to make it easier to lift coffee pots, mess tins, and pots away from the fire without pouring the contents in the fire. Comes with a black vegetable-tanned leather sheath.
No matter what some people might claim, the Finnish puukko is the best general-purpose knife in the world. You can do pretty much anything with them.
This puukko has a 90 mm 80CrV2 carbon steel blade with a brass bolster, made at Laurin Metalli in Finland. The blade steel is the same as in our Jääkäripuukko knives. Carbon steel is easier to sharpen than stainless steel and puukkos should be sharpened regularly, because dull blades cause the most accidents. When you get the knife, it is sharp enough to shave body hair. (Of course we tried with the test piece.) The spine curves up at the tip to make it easier to lift things to and from the camp fire.
The handle is made of stained curly birch and wenge. The knife feels really natural in the hand. It comes with a beautiful vegetable-tanned sheath with a belt loop fit for very wide belts.
WoodsKnife is a traditional puukko maker in Kauhava, Finland. The region has very long history in knife making. The owner of the company, Harri Merimaais a third generation knifemaker. He has followed the footsteps of his father and grandfather. Woodsknife puukkos have been sold all over the world for over 20 years.
